The EDF Energy Birmingham Half Marathon is being organised by Birmingham City Council. The council is the largest local authority in the country.
Birmingham is a global city with a local heart. It is a successful, confident, growing city with a diverse culture and strong links to cities across Europe and the globe. It is an attractive city with over one million residents.

Birmingham has a passion for sport and has a fantastic reputation for staging successful major sports events. Birmingham City Council is also committed to encouraging local people to live happier and healthier lives and with this in mind hopes that many local residents will take part in the EDF Energy Birmingham Half Marathon.

Heart of Birmingham Teaching Primary Care Trust

Heart of Birmingham Teaching Primary Care Trust is responsible for buying and providing health services in an area stretching from Oscott and Perry
Barr in the north to Sparkbrook and Sparkhill in the south.

With an annual budget of around £520 million (2008/09), the PCT operates 20 health centres and commissions services from more than 170 GPs based in over 75 practices. It also buys the services of dentists, pharmacists and opticians, for people who live inside the PCT boundaries.

The PCT has decided to support the Birmingham Half Marathon because of the contribution which exercise and fitness make to the health of the city.

100.7 Heart fm is the biggest commercial radio station in the West Midlands with 822,000 adult listeners per week. Heart’s core audience is 25-44 adults with female friendly and male credible programming.
