Cancer Research 10km Returns to Birmingham

Birmingham’s Sutton Park will once again host a Cancer Research 10km run.
The event is for men and women and will be staged at the park on Sunday 7 September.

Prize money announced for the EDF Energy Birmingham Half Marathon

Organisers of the EDF Energy Birmingham Half Marathon have announced the prize money which is up for grabs at the event, which will be staged on Sunday 26 October.

The first male and first female runners to cross the finish line on Broad Street near Centenary Square will each receive £1,000. Second place finishers for both men and women will receive £600 with third place runners each receiving £300. Everyone who finishes the race will receive a t-shirt and a medal.

5,000 Runners Sign up for EDF Energy Birmingham Half Marathon

Organisers of the EDF Energy Birmingham Half Marathon have revealed that more than 5,000 people have now signed up for the event which will be staged on Sunday 26 October.

The milestone number of entries was passed just two months after the event was officially launched by Denise Lewis, Nell McAndrew and Blind Dave.

The event, which is being organised by Birmingham City Council and is sponsored by EDF Energy, is also known as the Race Against Climate Change and will start near the Birmingham Alexander Stadium and finish on Broad Street near Centenary Square.

Organisers Release Training Plans for the EDF Energy Birmingham Half Marathon

To coincide with the 12 week countdown to the EDF Energy Birmingham Half Marathon, organisers of the inaugural event have called on the expertise of Olympian Tim Hutchings to put together training plans to help runners prepare for the big event.

Sunday 3 August will be a key date in the diary for the 4,200 runners who have already signed up for the event and for those thinking of taking part, as it marks 12 weeks to go until the first ever EDF Energy Birmingham Half Marathon, which is also known as the ‘Race Against Climate Change’.

Friday 18 July marks 100 days to go until the first ever EDF Energy Birmingham Half Marathon. The event, which is also known as the Race Against Climate Change will be held on Sunday 26 October.

The EDF Energy Birmingham Half Marathon was launched by Denise Lewis, Nell McAndrew and Blind Dave just over a month ago and so far more than 3,500 people have already signed up to be part of the inaugural event.

The 13.1 mile run, which is sponsored by EDF Energy, one of the UK’s largest energy providers, will be also known as the Race Against Climate Change and will start at the Birmingham Alexander Stadium in Perry Barr and will finish on Broad Street near Centenary Square.

RUNNERS UNITE IN THE RACE AGAINST CLIMATE CHANGE

Birmingham City Council has today announced one of the UK’s largest energy providers, EDF Energy, as title sponsor for the first official Birmingham Half Marathon. The EDF Energy Birmingham Half Marathon – the ‘Race Against Climate Change’ – will take place on Sunday 26th October 2008 and is part of a five-year sponsorship deal.

The ‘Race Against Climate Change’ is based on the belief that sport has the power to unite and inspire people to want to work for a better future. EDF Energy is using its sponsorship of the half marathon to call on all runners to join together in making a real difference in the race against climate change and demonstrate their own commitment to reducing their personal carbon footprints by a tonne.
